Do not EVER use Paul Krugman, aka Ageless Exteriors, aka Ageless Restorations, in Birmingham, Alabama, for ANY CONTRACTING/REPAIR/ROOFING jobs you may have. He is a fast talker, a shyster, a scam man, a storm chaser.
A tree fell on my detached garage during the storms of 2011 and my homeowners insurance with State Farm agreed to pay. Because my daughter was in relationship with this Paul Krugman, and he basically badgered me about the job (as he had already done a roof on my home from a previous storm), I agreed to allow him to contract it, thinking I had no worries as he acted, there is the key word, ACTED, like he was part of my family. He and his cohort Jim Browning, came to my home on two separate occasions, and did some very minor work to the FRONT of the garage (the part he thought I could see) and Mr Browning fell off a ladder and injured his arm, and that ended any work on this project for quite awhile (even though Mr Krugman kept coming back to get check after check from me for non specific things such as materials etc.)
Then in December, he and an unknown ‘buddy’ of his named Barry came over for one day and climbed around the roof of the garage, nailed some wood into place, and a few cosmetic things, and they were gone again. This garage was not in good shape PRIOR to the tree falling down on it, and I was in no hurry to have anything done for that reason, but Paul Krugman pushed and pushed for this job, and assured me he and his ‘crew’ (none of which ever appeared at my home) could have my garage repaired and looking good. He took over $6,000 of my money and did about $1,500 worth of actual work and repair.
I have filed complaints with the BBB and the Alabama Attorney General, to which PAUL KRUGMAN has tried to pooh pooh with reply that it was a vendetta launched by me and my daughter, because their relationship ended. My daughter choosing to end a relationship with this man had nothing to do with the fact, he never finished the job, never returned any phone calls about the completion of the work, and basically took the money and ran with it. I have asked repeatedly for this job to be completed. He has made it sound like he and Jim Browning were on the job ‘for days’ until Mr Browning fell and injured himself, and the ‘insurance funds ran out’. Those two were ‘on the job’ for two days and then Mr. Browning was injured, and once the money was gotten by Paul Krugman, it was no longer a priority.
He ripped me off, and State Farm off as well. This is no personal vendetta involving my daughter. This is a man who is a double talker, who promises the world until he gets the money in hand, and then poof he’s gone. The reviews on his website have been made by he and other people he knows, not the actual customers, although I’m sure he convince one or two legitimate ones to post a review for him. I am 84 years old, and a cancer survivor on borrowed time, and do not deserve such treatment as this.
